Top Abode Decorating Training Academy Pros Jamie and Paul held a masterclass to demonstrate different masking techniques to painters and decorators. Like every painting and decorating pro, they were well aware that outstanding projects were as dependent on the choice of masking tools as they were on how good the professionals are. Therefore, they opted for the trusted Q1® masking range.

Covering the floor with Q1® Floor Pro Board

Jamie covered the floor with the durable temporary floor protection Q1® Floor Pro Board. Given that it is longer and lighter than traditional floorboards, it made it easier to use. The superior performance it also offers in wet conditions was one of the major reasons why it was chosen.

After covering the floor, he taped the edges with the 3560 Q1® Precision Line Masking Tape to prevent the Q1® Floor Pro Board from picking back up. He also taped the 3415 Q1® Multiple Purpose Indoor Masking Tape over the 3560 Q1® Precision Line Masking Tape because it has the likelihood to hold off any form of liquid and doesn't lift easily.

Wallpaper protection

Paul The Jordie Painter proceeded to mask the edges of the wallpaper with the 3590 Q1® Sensitive Surface Masking Tape. This particular tape asides from its quality is a thoughtful tape design. It is useful for extremely delicate indoor surfaces, such as wallpapers, plaster and freshly painted walls. All thanks to the tape’s lower adhesion level, as it didn't affect the ultra-sensitive wallpaper surface beneath. Its resistance to moisture and nearly all water and solvent-based paints made it yet another layer of confidence.

The Q1® Pre Taped Washi Film was immediately used on the wallpaper to prevent damage during the spraying process. It is a perfect solution since it shields from paint, dust and spills even in the messiest of projects. It is also faster and easier to unfold and open out compared to other products.

The 3415 Q1® Multiple Purpose Indoor Masking Tape was used to tape the dust sheet to the wallpaper. He was however careful enough to not allow the tape to tamper with the wallpaper as it may cause damage to it.

The wall sockets were also covered with 3415 Q1® Multiple Purpose Indoor Masking Tape to prevent contact with the spray.

Kitchen door protection

3590 Q1® Sensitive Surface Masking Tape was used on the back of the kitchen door to prevent over-spraying.

At the end of the masterclass, the Q1® Pre Taped Washi Film was removed from the wallpaper. The wallpaper remained intact without damage even though the next wall to it was painted.

The P&D Masterclass was of course a success. All thanks to the dexterity of Abode Decorating Training Academy Pros Jamie and Paul and the Q1® Masking Range that helps decorators and painters deliver outstanding results!
